Hello readers! I shared with you a simple fish curry recipe and thought nothing could be simpler and easier. But yesterday I made a fish curry with even fewer ingredients and my boy who is not at all a fish lover, LOVED IT😅 In his exact words: ” It’s exceptionally delicious”!!! And he is one person from whom getting praise for something he doesn’t like is really hard😂 So, I decided to share the recipe, in case you guys might also love it!

Even simpler Fish curry 🍛

Ingredients:

  • Big fish of your choice
  • Potatoes
  • Tomatoes
  • Green chilies
  • Onion
  • Small piece of garlic
  • 2 pods garlic
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds ( whole)
  • Turmeric powder
  • Cumin powder
  • Coriander powder
  • Red chili powder
  • Oil for shallow frying and cooking
  • Salt to taste
  • Pinch of sugar (optional)

Directions:

We start by cleaning and cutting the fish. Smear with turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt and let it sit for 5 mins. Heat a pan, add enough oil for shallow frying the fish and fry in both sides till the colour turns brown.

Rub the fish well with turmeric & red chili powder and salt
Shallow fry

Cut the potatoes length wise and fry them. When they start changing colour, take the potatoes out and keep them aside.

Fry the potatoes in the same pan

In the same pan add some oil, and when it’s got, add 1 tbsp of whole cumin seeds. Let them shutter, then add the chopped onions, ginger and garlic. Sprinkle salt and cook till the onions start changing colour. Add tomatoes and green chilies.

Add tomatoes to the onion, ginger and garlic

Start adding the dry spices… The coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder.

Add dry spices

Cook till the tomatoes and spices are all cooked together and the mixture starts leaving oil from the sides. You can add a little water to avoid the mixture from burning.

Add water (depending on your preferred consistency) and let it come to a boil. Once the mixture starts to boil, add the potato pieces, cover, and cook for five minutes. Check if the potatoes are cooked properly. Add the fried fish pieces and let it cook for a few minutes.

Check the salt and add if needed. Add a pinch of sugar to balance the taste. And your simple fish curry is ready to be served with plain white rice!!!
